Morning Glory
Probably one of the more exclusive brunch locations, Morning Glory is definitely worth the sometimes long wait. Once seated, indulge in their edgy menu of brunch items, including Breakfast Carbonara, Souffle Pancakes, and a daily selection of Dim Sum. Although they unfortunately do not take reservations, there is a work around by pre-ordering from their Family Affair menu that guarantees a table for 2 to 3 guests. Treat Dad to the Wet-Aged Steak & Eggs Experience for a 2lb, 45-day Aged Porterhouse Steak, fried eggs, crispy hashbrowns, and lots of truffles, with a peppercorn sauce. This is only one of the options that will guarantee you a reserved table, but it’ll run you $135 and 48-hour advance notice. Morning Glory is located in Little Italy on West Date Street and is open from 8am until 4pm on Father’s Day.
Duke’s
Named in honor of the father of modern surfing and Hawaiian native Duke Kahanamoku, Duke’s La Jolla serves up Hawaiian-inspired dishes in contemporary Southern California fashion. Enjoy some Coconut Crusted French Toast or the Spam Breakfast Sandwich while sitting outdoors with beautiful ocean views. Don’t forget your Bloody Mary with Black Lava Salt rim! Duke’s is located in La Jolla Cove on Prospect Street and is open from 10am until 9pm, this Father’s Day. You could even take Pops to brunch and stay for the live music at 4pm. Luckily Duke’s La Jolla does take reservations, so get yours in early.
